Resin-bound aggregate: what is being laid?
The aggregate is mixed with resin before being spread and trowelled over the specified base. This binds the stones into the surface. It is different from a resin-bonded treatment, which scatters aggregate over a layer of resin. We explain the chosen system so the quotation is clear about the construction.
Choose the preparation before the finish
The existing driveway needs checking for cracks, movement and unsuitable levels. Where the construction is sound and compatible, retaining a base may be possible. Where it is not, excavation and replacement groundwork form part of the proposal. A surface refresh should not hide a problem underneath.
Think about where rainwater will go
A drainage plan considers the ground, the driveway’s fall and adjoining areas such as garages, doorways and paths. Permeable resin-bound surfacing needs a suitable base and a way for water to drain. We assess these together instead of treating the finish as a standalone solution.
